Hotspot-Internet Setup
Using Hotspot-Internet hotspots is quite simple. Once you have gone through this simple configuration, open your Internet Explorer (or other browser) and log in with your username and password!
You will need the following information to use Hotspot-Internet Hotspots:
mobilewirelesshotspot SSID: Hotspot-internet

Security and/or Encryption: disabled

wifihotspotlondon Channel: Should be set automatically
Windows XP and Windows 200 will allow you to make these changes with no additional software. Mac OSX also requires no additional software. If you are using any other operating system, such as Windows 9x, Me, 2000, or NT, you will need to use the configuration program that came with your wireless card.
Setting up using Windows :

Windows XP

wifihotspotuk Click Start, then Control Panel. In the Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections. On the following screen, click Network Connections.

Right-click your Wireless connection icon and click on Properties.

internetaccess Click on the Wireless Networks tab. Be sure that there is a checkmark on the option to Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
wirelessbroadband With Hotspot-Internet selected in the list of Available networks, click on the Configure button. The Network name (SSID) needs to be set to "Hotspot-Internet " and Wireless network key (WEP) should be disabled.
wirelessnetwork Click on the Authentication tab. All settings should be entirely disabled.
wirelessinternet Wireless Card Settings:
 
  • Click OK to return to the main Properties Screen.

  • Select the General tab and then click the Configure button.
  •  
  • Click the Advanced tab. For the following three Properties, select the following Values:

      • Encryption = Disabled
      • Network Type = Infrastructure
      • SSID = Hotspot-internet
      • Click OK and then OK again.
    Windows 2000
    cheapinternet Click Start, then Settings, then Network
    cheapwirelessinternet Right-click your Wireless connection icon and click on Properties.
    internetprovider On the General tab, click the Configure button.
    satelliteinternet Click the Advanced tab. For the following three Properties, select the following Values:
     
      • Encryption = Disabled
      • Network Type = Infrastructure
      • SSID = Hotspot-internet
      • Click OK and then OK again.
      After making changes, you may need to remove and reinsert your Laptop's Wireless Card.
    Mac OSX
    wirelesscomputers First, click Apple, then System Preferences.
    wirelesshotspots Then click the Network icon.
    wirelesslaptop Next to Location, click the down-arrow and select New Location.
    broadbandinternet Name the New Location Hotspot-Internet Wireless and click OK.
    hotspotinternet Next to Show, click the down-arrow and select Network Port Configurations. Leave the checkmark in front AirPort. Remove all other checkmarks such as Internal Modem or Ethernet.
    internetisp Next to Show, click the down-arrow and select AirPort. There will be 4 blank tabs.
    wirelessisp Click on the TCP/IP tab.
    wirelessprovider Next to Configure, click the down-arrow and select Using DHCP.
    hotspotinternet Leave the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Router alone.
    wirelessinternet Click on the AirPort tab.
    broadbandwirelessinternet Choose Join a specific network and select Hotspot-internet from the drop-down menu.
    wifihotel Checkmark the option to Show AirPort status in menu bar.
    hotelwifi Click OK.
    Windows 95, 98, Me, NT
    Note: Windows 95, 98, Me & NT do not have wireless capabilities built in. You will need to open the configuration program that came with your wireless card and configure it with the following settings:
    hotspothotel Set the SSID or Network Name to Hotspot-internet
    hotspotinabox By default, the Security should NOT be enabled and the channel should be automatically assigned.
    wirelessinternethotspot If you are unsure how to use the configuration program that came with your wireless access card, please look below for the type of access card you are using for most common setting changes and walkthroughs for the standard programs that come with your card. If the settings listed are different then what you see on your screen, click on the link at the bottom of the page to browse the manufacturer's website or call technical support for further assistance.
      Please Note: These installation instructions are for the more common types of cards. But each manufacturer makes many different types of cards, and these instructions may not work for everyone.
